Well, my first Christmas as a single mom is completed.
Amazingly enough I was not at all upset. I didn't feel the least bit depressed. Having a 2 year old who can't sit still doesn't really leave you any time for that!
We had a great Christmas together just the two of us!
Bring on the New Year!

ReplyDeleteHere's to a new and better year my love!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful, amazing, fabulous, exciting 2010!! :)
ReplyDeleteA hearty congratulations to you. I was a single "Mom" for years, from the time my kids were 6 and 3. That was many years ago and a rather unique experience as they're now 37 and 40. For the record, my ex-wife gave me sole custody at the time, which was unusual to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI recall vividly my first holiday season with them and it was lovely, wonderful. I'm not at all certain how different it is for a woman as a single parent, however, I can tell you that raising mine was a wonderful, exciting adventure...and not at all especially difficult. As my Dad told me, "You'll know you've been a good parent if, when they're grown, your children don't live at home, don't ask for money and haven't shot you."
Mine live on either coast, we talk several times a week and I'm a grandparent now. If I, a peripatetic jackleg writer from New York, can do it, anyone can.
All the luck in world you and Gage.
